OUR STORY: THE LIGHT BEHIND THE CRAFT
There is a particular kind of satisfaction that comes from holding something truly handmade — something that carries the mark of human hands, the decisions of a craftsperson, and the intention of a design that was never meant to be mass-produced. That satisfaction is what Light In The Space was built to deliver.
We founded Light In The Space on September 15, 2025, with a single, clear mission: to bring genuinely handcrafted leather accessories into the everyday lives of people across the United States. From day one, we committed to making everything in-house, shipping with full transparency, and standing completely behind every piece that leaves our facility.

WHY "LIGHT IN THE SPACE"?
A common question we receive is how a brand named Light In The Space came to specialize in handcrafted leather artistry. The name was not chosen by accident.
To us, "Light" is not about a bulb or a fixture. It is about the energy, personality, and brightness that a one-of-a-kind handmade piece brings into a person's life. Every leather coin purse, every 3D-tooled wristlet, every hand-stitched crossbody bag we make is designed to be more than functional. It is designed to be noticed — to be a conversation starter, a daily source of quiet joy, and a reflection of the person who carries it.
"In The Space" refers to your world — your handbag, your home, your personal style, and your daily routine. We believe that a beautifully handcrafted leather butterfly coin purse or an intricate owl crossbody bag acts as a spark of joy — a metaphorical light — that transforms an ordinary space into something that feels distinctly yours.

WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE COME FROM
We are based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China — one of the world's most respected centers of leather craftsmanship. Shenzhen is home to generations of skilled artisans who have refined their leatherworking techniques over decades, and it is within this environment that Light In The Space was born.
Our production facility, our craftspeople, and our warehouse are all located in Shenzhen. When you place an order at lightinthespace.com, your item is made and dispatched from our own facility — not sourced from a marketplace or a third-party manufacturer.
Although we are a China-based brand, we serve customers exclusively in the contiguous United States and operate our customer support entirely on New York time (EST). We believe that wherever your business is based, the standard of service you deliver should match the expectations of the customers you serve.

HOW WE MAKE OUR PRODUCTS
The word "handmade" is used so frequently in e-commerce that it has lost much of its meaning. At Light In The Space, we want to be specific about what it means for us.
Every leather piece in our collection goes through the following process, entirely within our own facility in Shenzhen:
Leather Selection: We begin with the selection of quality leather appropriate for each design — considering weight, texture, and color.
Cutting and Shaping: Each piece is cut and shaped by hand according to the design specifications. No two pieces are identical at this stage.
3D Tooling and Carving: Our most distinctive technique. Using traditional leather tooling and carving tools, our craftspeople create the three-dimensional animal and nature-inspired designs that define our Fauna and Flora Finds collection — owls, butterflies, chameleons, alligators, foxes, hummingbirds, dragonflies, bats, parrots, and more.
Hand-Stitching: Every seam, edge, and closure is hand-stitched by our craftspeople. This is the step that determines the durability and finish quality of every piece.
Hardware Assembly: Metal clasps and locks — the only components we source externally — are fitted and secured. We precision-source our hardware to ensure it meets the longevity standard our leather work deserves.
Final Inspection: Every completed piece is inspected before packaging to ensure it meets our quality standards. Pieces that do not pass inspection are not shipped.
This is what "handmade" means at Light In The Space. It means that skilled hands have touched every stage of the process — not just the finishing, and not just the packaging.

Thoughtfully designed and hand-finished in Shenzhen.
Pocket Organizers
Slim, elegant, and practical. Our Pocket Organizers include coin purses, card holders, and wristlet wallets — each handcrafted to bring order and personality to your everyday carry. Small enough to slip into any bag, distinctive enough to stand out on their own.
Artisan Accents
For those who want to personalize what they already carry. Our Artisan Accents collection features handcrafted leather bag charms and keychains — small, hand-tooled accessories that add a touch of artisan character to any bag, backpack, or key ring.

OUR COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY
We are a China-based brand shipping handcrafted leather goods to the United States. We say this clearly and prominently because we believe transparency is the foundation of trust.
Every policy on our website — from shipping timelines to return costs — is written to give you the complete picture before you purchase, not after. We do not hide behind vague language. We tell you where your item ships from (Shenzhen, China), how long it will take (8–18 business days), what returns cost (free for defects, approximately $15–$30 for change-of-mind returns to our China warehouse), and exactly how refunds are processed (within 5 business days of receiving your return).
We are a young brand. We launched in September 2025 and we are still building. But the values we started with — craftsmanship, honesty, and genuine care for our customers — are not things that change as a brand grows.

Estimated Delivery Time: 8–18 business days from our Shenzhen facility to your door.
In-House Production: Every leather piece is made by our own craftspeople in our own facility in Shenzhen. Not outsourced. Not drop-shipped from a marketplace.
30-Day Returns and Exchanges: If something is not right, we are here to help. Defective or incorrect items are covered by a free prepaid return label. Change-of-mind returns are accepted within 30 days with return shipping at the customer's expense.
No Sales Tax: We do not collect sales tax on any orders. The price at checkout is the final price you pay.
